CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Props, blocks, straps, modifications and hands-on assists are available for students to find accessibility in our practice.


Seated Meditation

Weekday mornings from 6:00-6:20am we will be sitting in silent meditation together at the back of the shala. You may arrive late or leave early and all are welcome. Offered on Zoom as well. Use community to support your meditation practice.


Mysore

The Mysore method of teaching is the traditional method for learning the Ashtanga yoga practice as taught in Mysore, India. Each student is taught the Ashtanga Series one-on-one by a highly-trained teacher in a group setting. Modifications and assists are offered. The student builds a solid self-practice. Offered WEEKDAYS from 6:30-9:00am and 5:00-7:00pm. The shala is open to students between 5:30-9:30am, with active teaching from 6:30-9am. Taught both online (mornings only) and in-person.


New-To-Mysore Program

For students in their first month of Mysore-style Ashtanga practice, we offer a 1 month curriculum that will teach what is needed to join our regular Mysore program and progress in the Ashtanga method. New-To-Mysore classes are offered Mon-Thur at 7:30am & 5:30pm. Your practice will take 45 minutes to an hour.


Led Primary Series

A traditional led class that follows the Sanskrit count. This is a challenging practice and is meant to be experienced after studying in the Mysore setting. Sundays 9:00-10:30am. In-person and online.


Led Half-Primary

For students who are working towards or up to navasana in Primary Series. This is a counted practice and teaches you to move on the breath. Sundays 4:15-5:15pm. In-Person and Online.


Pranayama/Meditation

We will practice seasonally-based pranayama followed by a short meditation. Saturdays 8:00-9:00am, In-Person and Online.


Chanting/Philosophy

Chant the Yoga Sutras and explore their meaning. Learn Shanti Mantras and well as other devotional chants. Includes topical discussion. Sundays 8:00-9:00am, In-Person and Online.


Ashtanga Vinyasa

This is a class that combines poses from all of the Ashtanga Series in flow sequences. We will practice to music! Saturday recess for disciplined practitioners or a chance to try new, fun and challenging asanas. Saturdays 9:00-10:15am. In person and online.


Led Intermediate Series

A traditional, counted Second Series. This is an advanced practice, appropriate for students who have been taught a regularly practice the Intermediate Series up to Eka Pada Sirsasana. Monthly Saturdays 9:00-10:15am In-Person and Online.


Prenatal / New-Mom Yoga

Pregnancy and new parenthood is a time full of physical, emotional and spiritual growth. This yoga practice is designed to bring people in the childbearing year into community with other mothers and into connection with their birthing bodies and their babies. Prenatal yoga alleviates common pregnancy discomforts, promotes relaxation and helps to prepare the body, mind and spirit for childbirth. Though this class is designed for expectant mothers, we welcome new moms and offer personalized modifications if they are craving connection and a gentle practice. Sundays 11am-12:15pm $12 per class, 10-Class Card for $100. Pay the teacher directly.


Private Yoga w/Carroll Ann OR Liam

You will receive external and subtle-body alignment of the asanas of the primary and intermediate series of Ashtanga Yoga. You may also request a pre-natal yoga class, yoga for arthritis or yoga for scoliosis or a particular injury or limitation. In this one-on-one class, you will have full attention and loads of hands-on assists during this hour. Offered in-person or online. An amazing way to revitalize your practice! $40 per hour. $10 for a second person in the class.


Mysore Apprenticeship

If you have studied with us regularly for 6 months and have received a 200HR Yoga Teacher Training from the Ivy Yoga School or another classical yoga school, you may be interested in our Apprentice Program. This continuing education will teach you to assist the main teacher in a Mysore class. The 3-month course will mentor you in giving hands-on assists to students and teach you how to modify poses for students as appropriate. Regular participation in our Mysore Program + one class per week assisting in the Mysore room is required for the course. Please contact Carroll Ann to apply.
