APRIL 17-19: THE ESSENCE OF SADHANA: A WEEKEND with TIM MILLER
The practice of Ashtanga Yoga is an ancient and powerful discipline for cultivating physical, mental and spiritual health. Progressive techniques of breath, posture and movement, cleanse, stretch and strengthen the body as well as focus and calm the mind. A deeper experience of the self becomes possible through consistent practice.
FRIDAY, APRIL 17
Mysore Practice: 3-6pm ($35/ $50 after 3/15)
Traditional independent practice, divided into smaller groups with staggered start times. Receive Tim’s hands-on guidance and attention in a communal practice environment
The Physics and Metaphysics of Practice: 6:30-9:00pm ($50/ $65 after 3/15)
An exploration of the Koshas, the five sheaths, or bodies of the human being — physical, energetic, mental/emotional, intellectual, and spiritual—and how the different aspects of the practice of Ashtanga Yoga are designed to penetrate these layers (light practice)
SATURDAY, APRIL 18
Pranayama: 8-9am ($25)
The Art of Breathing and Not Breathing—The traditional Ashtanga Pranayama sequence as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. Tim will lead us in an introduction to Pranayama, which is an important tool to bring calmness to the mind and to awaken our natural intelligence. This class will introduce the basics of pranayama and provide a foundation for cultivating a personal practice. (no asana)
Exploring Nadi Shodana: 9:15- 11:45am ($50/$65 after 3/15)
An introduction to the second series of Ashtanga Yoga and an exploration of the pranamayakosha, the cakras and kundalini shati. The practice will include an in depth preparation for some of the more challenging poses, like kapotasana and eka pada sirsasana. (strong practice)
Consulting the Jungle Physician: 2- 4:30pm ($50/$65 after 3/15)
Good teachers and practitioners recognize that the practice of yoga involves work on the physical, psychological, and spiritual levels of the human being. Tim brings 35 years of practical experience as a yoga teacher, extensive study of anatomy, pranayama, yoga philosophy, Indian mythology, jyotisha (Vedic astrology), mantra, and kirtan to better assist his students in their Sadhana.
SUNDAY, APRIL 19

Yoga Chikitsa: 9:30am-12:00pm ($50/ $65 after 3/15)
Cleaning the Temple —The Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga is a profound tool for Tapah, purification of the physical body, and a necessary prerequisite for going deeper into the process of Sadhana. (strong practice)
Cultivating Sweetness in Practice: 2:00-4:30pm ($50/$65 after 3/15)
An exploration of the practice of Mantra to quiet the mind and Kirtan to melt the resistance of the heart–culminating in the singing of the great megavitamin for the heart—the Hanuman Chalisa
Tim Miller has been studying and teaching Ashtanga Yoga for over thirty years and was the first American certified to teach by Pattabhi Jois at the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute in Mysore, India. Tim has a thorough knowledge of this ancient system, which he imparts in a dynamic, yet compassionate and playful manner. “My goal as a teacher is to inspire a passion for practice. The practice itself, done consistently and accurately, is the real teacher.”
