Vika, born and raised in Belarus, was introduced to yoga as an undergraduate in 2004 in Philadelphia, where her daily yoga practice brought her the needed joy, balance, and strength to help overcome the fear and loneliness of her first years in the United States.
When Vika moved to Charlottesville to pursue her PhD in Anthropology, she met her teacher, Jennifer Elliott, who introduced her to the magic of Ashtanga yoga. She subsequently completed her yoga teacher training at the Charlottesville Yoga School in the Krishnamacharya lineage.
In the spirit of this lineage, Vika believes in adapting yoga to students’ individual abilities and needs. She infuses her teaching with an interest in philosophy, anatomy, and art. Her classes are alignment oriented, and focus on the movement and flow of energy and breath. Vika especially enjoys teaching new students in order to introduce them to yoga’s transformative and healing benefits.
Vika teaches the Community class on Tuesdays 7:15-8:45pm
